While aerobic training is great for increasing cardiovascular performance and does certainly increase the burning of body fat during the workout; shortly after, the fat burning benefit of aerobic exercise goes away. Additionally, aerobics eats up a lot of lean muscle mass which is so hard to develop (look at your typical marathon runner)

In contrast, anaerobic training burns a little less fat during the workout but stimulates the metabolism so much that for 2-3 hours after completed, the body continues to burn fat at a high rate.

IN FACT, you can burn up to five times as much body fat with anaerobic training that you can with only aerobics, and maintain your lean muscle!

So what is an anaerobic workout. The best example is interval training done by sprinters. It involves an all out sprint, where the pulse rate climbs to nearly 90% of its maximum, followed by a jog which brings the pulse back down and then repeated several times.

At Bangkok Fitness, part of our secret is the augmentation of our workouts using this type of anaerobic training. Using variations of modified circuit training, we keep you in a high intensity zone throughout the workout, eventually putting your body into an anaerobic state.

Utilizing a combination of weight training, cardio and pylometrics (leaping exercises) in this circuit format, we will maximize your return on gym-time invested with superior fat reduction results.

This method of fat loss is superior to aerobic training, provided it is complimented with a daily calorie reduction of 5-10% and increased protein consumption during your fat loss cycle.

Though this type of training is not easy, the fast and superior results obtained are well worth the effort.
